Summer Organizing Internship

Abby Finkenauer for Iowa seeks In-State Summer Organizing Interns to join a growing team working to elect Abby as the next U.S. Senator from Iowa. This is an exciting opportunity to help build the organizing program for an inspiring people-first candidate in one of the top Senate campaigns of 2022, all while gaining valuable experience in one of the most historically important political states in the country.

Responsibilities:

  • Educating and engaging community members about Abby’s campaign for Senate
  • Calling supporters across the state about the 2022 election
  • Leading volunteer trainings and launching in-person volunteer shifts
  • Periodically staffing events with the candidate/campaign surrogates
  • Working closely with the Youth Vote Director to meet voter contact and candidate support goals

Qualifications:

  • Passion for talking to your peers and neighbors about politics
  • Willingness to meet voters where they’re at—on the doors, over the phone, and online
  • Flexible mindset and excitement for trying new grassroots organizing tactics
  • Readiness to learn from and collaborate with fellow organizers
  • Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel around your community for events
  • Previous campaign experience a plus, but not required

Compensation: Interns are paid $15 per hour, with an expectation of completing 10-15 hours of work per week with the campaign.

Location: Interns would be expected to relocate to Cedar Rapids (HQ) or Des Moines (satellite) for the duration of the internship.
